On the 9th May 2013 we will be embarking on a four day cycle ride from London to Paris. The 280 mile route will take us from Greenwich to the Eiffel Tower via the ferry from Dover (where I think we will be allowed to get off our bikes). It’s a pretty long way!
Before we signed up for the challenge our cycling experience was limited to a handful of rides in the park many years ago. We didn’t even own bikes, but by the time we are pedalling down the Champs Elysees we should be proficient (if we’re not then we’re in trouble). Our new found interest in cycling is a tribute to an absent friend. He always seemed happier when he cycled and that is how we want to remember him.
We hope that we can raise as much money for the charity Mind as possible. They are a brilliant organisation that work hard to raise the profile of mental health issues. Throughout our lives we will all encounter some form of mental illness, either through our own experiences or the experiences of those we love. Sometimes it can be hard to know where to turn for help which is why the work done by Mind is so important.
We really appreciate any donations you would like to make to Mind. You can donate on our Virgin Giving page or you can ask us for a sponsorship form. We will be contributing the cost of the challenge to Mind ourselves, so any money you donate will go to the charity and not to towards our trip. Thank you so much for your support.
